A ray of hope...looking on the bright side.
There is always the bright side...
My dad rarely calls me on my cell. My dad never calls me at work. My heart sank when I heard his voice tremble on the line. He said my brother was on his way to work this morning and he had been in an accident. Immediately my eyes fill with tears. He had broken his jaw, lost teeth among other bumps and bruises. His wife was at the hospital with him. And they were on their on his way. Please call your mom.
This wasn't going to be an easy call. The night before Hubby had said...are you ready for some news? She thought it was going to be bad news. And scolded us saying not to call her like that again. Of course that was good news...we are coming to visit this summer after all. Today the news won't be good. Once we got over the tears I promised I would keep her posted. My bro and his wife are a rare breed and don't even have texting on their emergency cell phone as pay as you go plan. And he is younger than me.
Anyways after consoling my mom...my hubby called to console me. I contacted my girl who relayed news to her bro and hubby. But all day at work I couldn't focus. The prayer chain was on however. I never even posted on fb. My mom did...I just couldn't.
After work hubby and I went to the hospital. Without being way graphic...he was a mess. He broke the steering wheel of his precious 1964 VW bug with his face and chest. His wife had pix of the car...this is the bright side I started with...he survived. The engine isn't in the front-end...the gas tank is and it didn't ignite. His neighbor had been running late and came up on the scene to find him hanging out the door passed out. Bright side...only broken jaw. His legs should have been broken. He could have been killed this morning. His wife was working out at the YMCA right behind the intersection. The neighbor went and got her. She was there when they loaded him into to ambulance. He has a nasty bump on his head and a black eye he can barely open. But he was talking...broken jaw and all. I fought back the tears and felt like I was gonna pass out twice. Unfortunately he did pass out and just as we were leaving they we're taking him to ICU to put an external pacemaker on him to keep his heart rate leveled as it had been dipping low all day. His wife is strong and said she has given full control to God. It is out of her hands...the bright side...we have that hope and faith. So if you believe...say a little prayer for Rod and Cindy and our family. My parents are shook up. And mom being so far away feels isolated and helpless. We are all a little helpless. We can only hope and pray...and look on the bright side. Because today could have been a lot worse.
Thank you blipdom and those who see this on fb.
