60163 Tornado
I was browsing Twitter about 6.30pm and happened to notice a tweet about steam train times for this evening. Intrigued, I followed the link to a timetable, and found that it would be passing my house just after 7.30pm. I couldn't really be bothered going out again, but I thought it would be stupid to miss the opportunity to see it when it was going to be so close! So, hoping my dinner wouldn't dry up in the oven while I was out, I ran up the steps over the railway and waited. There was already a man waiting there, and not long after another man joined us - he worked for Network Rail and was in the know about all the trains that would be passing. Apparently there will be two steam trains visiting Waverley next week.
Anyway, he was able to tell us when the Tornado had left Waverley, so we knew when to get our cameras ready! I think it was on a special Prince's Trust circular trip, with a special fireworks display as it crossed the Forth Bridge around 11.30pm!
