Cinderhill Woods

A pretty thankless conservation task today.   In the "old " days sheep, goats and deer would eat the bracken shoots.  A local farmer used to let his sheep graze here until one of his sheep got killed by a dog off the lead.  Now people have to pull the bracken to prevent it taking over the heathland. We did see a slow-worm .  This is at the beginning of our day. We worked our way across the heath so now the top part is brackenfree.
