Orthopantomograph

Well, the title has absolutely nothing to do with the picture! But every time I go for a dental X ray, I see that impressively long Greek word on the machine and it cheers me up. As it did today.
I took this photo as I whizzed past D on my way to cycle into Dumfries for an evening meeting. He was pulling up sticky willy. Part of his retirement activities.
The other day, he sent me an interesting article all about it. It's also called "catchweed" or "lady's bedstraw" because it was used as a filling for mattresses. Apparently you can eat it in a salad, and even roast the seeds to make a kind of coffee. Stranger still, you can steep it in alcohol to make a kind of tonic. This is why I was to be seen coming out of the local Scotmid in the middle of the day, clutching a litre bottle of cheap vodka...
