Looking Forward...

World's largest cuckoo clock

Fiona and I took a day trip to Triberg in the Black Forest. We had a nice little wander up to a waterfall, tucked into some cake (Black Forest Gateau of course!) and then went to find the world's biggest cuckoo clock.

It was a bit of a trail but we knew we'd found it when we saw lots of people standing around in the middle of nowhere looking at a random building. That's how big it is. It's a whole building. For €2 we got to see the giant cogwheels inside and managed to get out again in time to see the bird pop out to announce the 17th hour.

Once we got back to Basel it was still quite mild so we decided to go for a swim in the Rhine! That's another item checked off my imaginary Basel Bucket List. It's one of the must do things in the city in the summer. You just stick to the safe swim areas and let the current carry you upstream. We swam at sunset and it was just spectacular floating under the bridges and the orange sky.
