The Returned.
He flitted past the kitchen window early this morning, eyes darting warily about. He grabbed some mince, and flew away.
Minutes later, he returned for a second helping. I had my camera ready, but this jittery little guy didn't stay still long enough for me to take a decent photo.
By 3:30 pm, and his umpteenth visit of the day, he posed for just a second. And luckily for me, it was the right second, the one when the camera shutter went "click".
This is a Pied Butcherbird. They haven't been around for some months, and this little bird knew his way around my garden, and the location of the food, so he's been here before.
How sweet that he remembered my garden, and returned. :)
