Friends and family!
Thursday
Today, we moved on from my sister's in the Gloucester area up to Roger's family near Warrington, but on the way we made an important detour. When we came over to England on Monday, we had planned to call in to visit my blip friend Honeycombebeach and her husband en route, but unfortunately due to problems at the tunnel, we were so delayed that we had to abandon our plan, much to our mutual disappointment. I was very pleased when Roger suggested the next day that I contact them to see if it would be convenient for us to call in for a coffee this morning before heading up north - even though that meant us going quite a bit out of our way. Fortunately Mr and Mrs HCB were both free, and so our long-awaited blip meet finally took place. Honeycombebeach and I have been blip friends, and later Facebook friends for quite a while now, so it was wonderful to meet face to face at last. They were very gracious hosts and made us feel most welcome. We weren't able to stay too long, but we all got on very well, and much fun and laughter was shared, so we hope that it will be possible to visit again before too long. We were pleased to be given a tour of the garden, which Is Mr HCB's pride and joy - and rightfully so - we even came away with some lettuce fresh out of the garden!
The rest of our journey was uneventful, and we arrived at Roger's sister's in time for a quick cup of tea, before going to pick up our other daughter from Liverpool airport - she has been in the States for the last four weeks, catching up with friends who she hadn't seen in at least three years, since leaving in September 2012 to serve with the Peace Corps in Macedonia. We worked out it must be four years since we had the two girls together in England!
Janet and John prepared a wonderful dinner for us all, including Roger's parents, then afterwards we went for a late evening walk, since most so us had spent much of the day sitting down!
