A mini forest

We visited the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville today and one of the main exhibits is a bonsai garden.  It was pretty amazing the way these trees and shrubs are grown to whatever shape they turn out to be.

This photo was a display of mini trees and ground cover that really looked like a fairy forest.  It needed a few little fairy people hiding to make it perfect!

I was hoping for a little cooler temps in Asheville..but we picked one of the hottest days for the mountains..but it was 10 degrees cooler than home where we are still hovering around 100F every day.

The extras are some other bonsai..one that seemed to be very old and looks like those Hobbit feet from the movies to me!   Amazing creations!
