Monarch

Sticking with the butterfly theme of this week, here's a monarch. I have lived here almost 30 years, and this is the first monarch I have seen. Not that they haven't been across this farm at some point, but I've never seen one. Monarchs have been on the decline over the last 30 years because of pesticides, lack of habitat, and the eradication of milkweed, their favorite food. I couldn't believe I actually saw one today, and was it ever elusive. This is about the best shot I got of it. So thrilled at actually seeing a monarch. I hope they're on their way back. They deserve it.
