Bryce Canyon
Day 6
Set off early this morning and drove from Salt Lake down to Bryce Canyon National Park which is a National Park located in the southwestern of Utah.
The major feature of this park is Bryce Canyon itself which despite its name is actually not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and rain. These natural sculptures are constantly changing and collapsing but new ones are constantly being formed. The red, orange, and white colours of these rocks provide spectacular views and great photograpic opportunities.
It's hard to believe that the rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 ft whereas Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the British Isles stands at 4,409 ft
As you can imagine a few photos were taken which made choosing one to blip very difficult ......
