Moore River, Guilderton
The traditional custodians of the land around here are the Yued people - a group of the Aboriginal Noongar people of South West Australia. The river and estuary is extremely important to their cultural and spiritual beliefs, Noongar people have been living and caring for the country for over 40,000 years. Yued tribes gathered together on the coast where they camped, traded and hunted around estuaries and swamps. Nyoongar people were very skilled in fishing and used the sea environment and its marine life to assist their survival.
