Ribblehead
Friday 26th June 2015 (1034)
An early start and a drive up to Ribblehead for a blipmeet with Elspeth. I really enjoyed the cross country drive through beautiful villages and the views on the moors were great.
This was early on our walk, we'd only just set off. We walked past the viaduct then, further on, went under the railway line and along the valley, stopping for photos along the way. After a while we turned and looked back for a great view of the viaduct from a distance. We'd just started taking pictures when the rain came down quite heavy. After that it was a jackets on and off day in between showers.
We walked quite a bit further than we should have done because I was enjoying the walk and conversation and forgot to look where to turn off the track! We completed 6.2 miles in total. Great views of the viaduct, Ingleborough and Whernside, even in the clouds.
We had the best part of the day for the walk as the rain really set in just as we were arriving back at the cars and the mist obscured the view. We then enjoyed a very nice lunch at the Station Inn.
I've wanted to see Ribblehead viaduct for a while but have never explored that area. Thanks for the suggestion Elspeth and for sorting out a good walk, one I'd happily do again some time. Great day with great company.
