A sailor's life
Last full day of our cruise today, arrived in Marseille at lunchtime and had a wander around the old port area this afternoon. Heathens that we are, we both felt that we have seen enough churches this week so decided against a visit to the cathedral, and settled for a drink before heading back to the boat. Have never visited Marseille before ; we know the area quite well but always head for the beaches. But from what we saw it is a vibrant city with lots to see and with some good restaurants.
So, have we enjoyed our first cruise ? I would say that it has been an interesting experience. Not helped by the fact that we have both been a bit ill all week.
The ship is beautiful and we have an amazing cabin with balcony, overlooking the sea – fortunately I asked for one on this side. Our most enjoyable experiences have been just chilling out on the balcony with a glass of wine, watching the sea drift by. The ship’s personnel are excellent, friendly and efficient. The food has been ok ; an italian ship so italian food, and not eating meat does limit our choice. Also, majority of passengers are italian, who are generally rude and obnoxious. Sorry, not wanting to stereotype, just our experience over this week.
The ports we have stopped at have all been interesting, although we would have prefered the Adriatic side which we had booked last year, but can’t really complain about that.
So, an interesting experience. One to repeat? On verra.
