Sunshine on a rainy day

What a day!

It's rained pretty much non stop since we left our hotel at 10am this morning; we had a dry 10 minutes at Crianlarich (ironically when we stopped for a warm up brew) and that's been it until after tea tonight.

Visibility has been limited, so there didn't seem too much point stopping off for sightseeing. We followed the A82 up the shoreline of Loch Lomond and various other lochs; rode though Glencoe (still with snow on the hilltops) and into Fort Wiliam (for a much needed pee break). Ben Nevis was almost completely obscured by mist, so we rode onwards to Glenfinnan.

The viaduct was smaller than we'd expected, but nice to get off the bike for a leg stretch.

We arrived at our b&b for the night absolutely drenched; I had to leave my rucksack outside as water was literally pouring out of it!

Thankfully the shower was hot and the room was lovely and warm so it didn't take long to feel human again.

For the second day running now, we totally missed lunch, so we walked just a short way down the road to find food in Fort Augustus.

What a pretty little place! We walked down the side of the canal and onto the banks of Loch Ness, where the sun eventually started to shine....hooray!

We ate at a place perched over the loch, serving Turkish food, which fits in well with our usual Friday night takeaway. It was excellent.

Tonight's blip is of Loch Ness; another tick off my bucket list of places to see.
No sign of Nessie though ;-)
