St Cyr and Ste Julitte

Nevers Cathedral is dedicsted to Sainte Julitte and her three-year old son Saint Cyr, who are depicted in this fine 16th century statue in the cathedral. It is thought that the popularity of these two saints in French churches derives from Julietta and Quriaqos who were martyred as Christians in AD304 in Tarsus, and whose  relics were brought back to Auxerre in the 4th century.
