To the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh with EdiSteve to meet the seldom-flowering Corpse Plant. This specimen has taken 12 years to cultivate and is the biggest in the world. The queues were not too long and the volunteers were superb. It will all be over within a couple of days, so if you have a chance to see it – and smell it – go along.

It's been nicknamed New Reekie because of its capital location and the smell – it's meant to smell of rotten flesh, or fish. It varies throughout the day and I couldn't smell it myself. Still, it was a privilege to encounter it.
