Remembering Sammy 1874-1966

I came across the plaque on a house in St Neots.  It commemorates Sammy who was a basketmaker, chorister and bellringer at St Marys Church.  He never missed a service and estimated that he attended at 3250 baptisms, 1750 weddings and 6250 funerals.  What a record!

Tonight our village holds its own Glasto...Don Airey, keyboard player from Deep Purple organises a Blues and Soul festival every few years.  It is always a sell out and people come from all over the country.  I can stand by my gate and hear the music floating over the fields..and at a better sound level than if I were there.  All the profits go to local charities. Well done, thank you Don.
