Just on the outskirts on New Orleans and the little Versa driven by a friend behind me aquaplaned.

I had seen the standing water and had dabbed the brakes very slightly to cancel cruise, and just in time. The Mustang slowly decelerated and grabbed the surface again. Poor old Adam behind me wasn't so lucky. I looked in the mirror and watched in a certain amount of horror as his car fishtailed, and never regained it's composure.

As his front tyres grabbed the surface again the car propelled at around 50-60 into the crash barrier, bounced off that, spun around, smashed off the other barrier, and ended up pointing straight! The car managed to cross a small bridge and then park up on the median.

I pulled up rapidly, got across the road to make sure he was ok. Not a scratch. Car did it's job perfectly, although it looks written off. Front end is totally smashed in.

His mother turned up shortly afterwards (the car owner) and was so pleased to see he was ok. Which is all that matters.
