Hunting a white horse
We met with B & B for a walk to a white horse at broad town. The first half of the walk was really pretty and easy. We came face to face with a herd of cattle - i learnt that you can encourage them away!
Up to the bickernoll castle (just a mound where the castle had once been) then we continued the loop round to discover stinging nettles and horse flies - what a combination. It was very distracting! We caught a glimpse of the horse but failed to walk up to it. Time to get back to the cars to avoid the flies. Legs scratched / stung to bits. The lesson is insect repellant and long trousers! To get back on route we climbed a very steep hill where the foot holes were just that - you weren't sure what you were stepping on. We finished a sit in the crown in broad hinton.
The best view of the horse was from the road on the way out of town.
In the evening, we dressed in posh frocks and headed out for a 60th birthday party. Brilliant fun catching up with lots of people I haven't seen for ages.
