Our combined ages.  Formal night on the ship.  I am pleased to say that the MD refused entry to a couple of people (not youngster), as they were dressed inappropriately for the formal night, he had trousers. hawaiin shirt and a hat, she had slacks and a blouse on. They told the MD that they had not been informed that it was a formal night, tosh!! In all the documentation you receive you are told there are 2 formal nights. The first is at the beginning of the week, the second on the penultimate night.

Men are requested to wear, smart trousers, shirt, tie and jacket or a dinner suit.  Ladies, cocktail dress, formal dress or smart trouser  suit.

The couple in question were American about our age (I guess).
