If I could talk to the animals

We bought some cheap but decent tomato plants this morning, now ensconced in a growbag in the greenhouse.  

The tennis is on but I'm still nipping in and out cutting back the ivy which has formed a cover over the fencing.  Some of it is covered in sticky globules and an inky substance which comes off the lime trees.  The plants up one side of the garden are covered in it too, it really is horrid and I feel sorry for the perennials trying to grow there.

This hoverfly was determined to find as much salt as it could on my left index finger.  Good job I'm righthanded for photography if not much else.
