That Angel

Took a scenic route home from Sunderland today. First stop was the Angel of the North which we've driven past plenty times but never actually taken the time to visit. So today we did just that and this is it!
After that we hit the B roads and followed the line of Hadrians Wall, which we'd also never visited. Spent ages at the roman fort of Vindolanda walking round the site, chatting to some of the volunteers that come from all over to work there for a few weeks of fun digging and then wandering round the museum. It's a fantastic place - and I'm ashamed to say that I'd never heard of it!
Another couple of stops along the Wall and then it was the radical road to Langholm (note to self .... Bad idea!), another couple of hours driving back to Edinburgh and an end-of-holiday pizza in Mamas. Who'd have thought that black pudding would go well with anchovies?
If I don't sleep like a log tonight there's something seriously wrong!
