Chasing Butterflies again!
Summer is really here!
A visit to Brockadale, another Yorkshire Wildlife reserve, and one of our favourites.
What better place to be than among the wild flowers and butterflies!
I managed to capture one of the dozens of Marbled Whites which stayed still long enough on this scabious flower.
I was chasing them, and they were chasing each other!
Other butterflies included Meadow Brown, Brimstone, Tortoiseshell, and a Chimney Sweeper moth, also a Banded Damoiselle.
Many orchids, but didn't spot a bee orchid.
Lovely bird song, especially through the woods, which was so nice and cool!
Only shot was a chiffchaff on a telephone wire. ( see extras)
Halfway round we called at the pub in Kirk Smeaton for a glass of shandy, and then back at the car had a picnic sat in the shade.
The plan was to sit on the seat over looking the valley, but it was too hot in the sun!
Hope you are all enjoying the hot weather!
( more photos on my extras, including a wonderful field of poppies which we passed on the way home.)
