Week 26 – half way through the year. The series
 
It is the season of grass becoming hay. Despite yesterday’s picture, there are far fewer oxeye daisies now. The yellow is no longer buttercup but ‘eggs and bacon’ (birdsfoot trefoil).
 
Many, many birds, mostly inside the trees and visible only by the movements of the branches. How many countries, I wonder, did they fly from this year to create this noisy, international festival of music, mating, food-scavenging and parenting. Here together, almost by chance, then off again.
