Wine and Ships
As we sat on our terrace this evening sipping our favourite wine and eating our home-made pizza, we watched a large private yacht drop anchor in the bay, before sending a launch ashore - no doubt its wealthy owner and family or friends heading for a meal at the port. As it got dark we went up to our friend's penthouse above us and on to the roof to see the convergence of Jupiter and Venus in the north west. Very bright, very dramatic, it only occurs once in a blue moon (so to speak). They say that this convergence might have been the star of Bethlehem that guided the three wise men. I wouldn't know. But when I looked down into the bay again, and saw the lights of the yacht reflecting on still water, I thought: "Who's privileged here?" And I figured it was us. We don't have the rich man's money, or his yacht, but we have the wine, and the night, and the star of Bethlehem. What more could you ask?
