Bangs Are In Fashion

Ceridwen taught me an old and funny Welsh proverb: When gorse is not in bloom, kissing is out of fashion.  The joke is in the fact that gorse is always blooming, but I didn't know it because I'm from over the pond.

There is no gorse here, but every summer it seems there are sunflowers in every garden. I planted a batch in the raised bed out at the curb, and here is one of the first pair to open. It's just another yellow flower, peddling a fashion statement. It reminds me that I'm due for a haircut.
