Summer's Over
Today we packed away all the trappings of summer. The mower will rest for the winter and the porch rocker will cool its heels upside down until the buds burst on the pussywillows in the spring. The legless deck table hides its face from the frost and the wooden swing cradles only the hedge trimmer while hunkered down for the cold onset of winter. This is a yearly ritual that makes me kind of sad but not morose. ------ After all, we didn't throw these things away; they're just in storrage.
Spring will come as sure as the nose on your face!
