The Horton General Hospital, Banbury.

Mum was due back here today to see the physiotherapist. Whilst she was with him I had a wander around to find this - the old Victorian entrance. When it opened in 1872 there was space 6 men in the Men's Ward & 6 ladies in the women's ward. It was funded by a Miss Horton who's father had amassed a small fortune when he invented a machine for making elastic yarn for women's stockings. The land comprising of 8 acres cost £3000 to buy & then she allowed a further £7000 for the construction.

The Horton was in the news when it came to light that a nurse had murdered two patients and more recently when it was threatened with closure.

Mum was told today that she could throw her sticks away, do lots of walking & be driving again in 2 weeks.

From here we popped to Sainsburys for some essentials for her & then home via a village called Fritwell where my father's family had a large farm a number of years ago.

I left her at 1400 & was home by 1430.

C was sat in the garden when I got home with Mary one of her friends drinking cold stuff !!  Any excuse !

By the way the car said that it was 31degs C today, so it is pretty warm.

The extra shot made me titter again - such is the service provided by the NHS....
