There Is Such A Thing As A Free Lunch

Met a friend for lunch today. It got off to an inauspicious start when they walked us past lots of empty tables and sat us at one on the next to back row....adjacent to a group of about 30 people. Luckily they were about to leave.

We ordered the express lunch, soup and a sandwich, which is meant to come in less than 15 minutes. We helped ourselves to soup. Interestingly both the low fat veggie and the pesto minestrone soups looked identical (like beef chilli) and tasted identical (like beef chilli!).

After about 20 minutes of sitting with dirty bowls in front of us the manager cleared them and 5 minutes later returned with our sandwiches, apologized profusely, said the order hadn't been placed and that lunch was on her.

A few minutes later the absent waitress stopped by and said lunch was on the house. We told her we already knew!
