1998 cruise itinerary
We flew to Ketchikan, Alaska spent the night and started our cruise the next day. By avoiding the floating cities, we were able to avoid crowds for dinner, hike "Deer Mountain" and take a short trip to a local village where they craved totem poles. The master craftsman stopped and talked to us personally because I was wearing a $5.00 abalone belt buckle that I had purchased as a teenage at the Ok. State Prison. Our boat was owned by one of the Native Tribes (First Nations People) & because fishing was poor that year we got a tour of Kake Island & given a tour by the Chief. Normally "whites" were not allowed on Kake Island.
