Last day
Yet another sunny, dry day in the Dolomites. A few of us took the ski lifts to Santa Croce above Badia. The church there was originally built in 1484.
I planned to potter around taking photos and then walk to the middle station and take the lift down again. Instead I missed my way and ended up on a forestry road that petered out into a steep track. (Poor Aggie!) I did the whole descent which was a bit more than planned.
Just when I was very tired I found a cafe. I had the last shady table outside, so I invited these two Italians from Rome to join me! One works in Parliament in the Civil Service and the other is a sports' journalist on radio. (You can guess which one that is.) We had a good chat.
The cafe is well known because skiers are taken there by horse and sleigh in the winter. My new friends had cycled today.
This evening our whole group of 17 had a meal out together in a rather good restaurant. After a week if eating chalet meals with no choice (excellent), we struggled with a large menu!
It's been a wonderful holiday.
