Messing about on the river....

The only place to be when the mercury hits 35C. 

We took the day off and went to a more secluded stretch of river for a picnic and wild swimming (or paddling in my case). 

As it was too hot to contemplate cooking, we strolled down to our nearest pub, next to a backwater of the Nene. There was plenty of entertainment from the many people around - diving into the water, promenading, barbecuing and generally enjoying the evening sunshine - it felt quite Mediterranean!

My meal was excellent- a spiced aubergine and beetroot curry - not surprisingly they'd run out of salad...
