A poppy after the rain

We have had a large amount of rain today.  It lasted all the morning culminating in very heavy showers at lunchtime.  Unfortunately my husband was out with a local group pulling out Himalayan Balsam plants. This plant is every invasive especially along rivers.  Each flower produces hundreds of seeds which easily spread so the object is to pull up the plant before it flowers.  He came back very very wet.

Later the sun came out and I popped down to the allotment for a little digging and took this shot of a poppy on the plot.
