Lupines...

At this time of year the lupines are in abundance....every verge is covered in these amazing purple, pink and dark blue flowers!   When i lived in Ontario there were hardly any - some folks had them in their gardens, but here on Cape Breton Island they are literally everywhere!   usually by now i've stopped by the side of the road a couple of times to gather up arm fulls of them to take back to the studio and house.   their fragrance is astonishing.   So this evening, after dropping Mimi off at her hotel i stopped by one of my favorite spots to take some photographs and to also gather up a big bunch of them!  well, i could only stand it for about 2-3 minutes..the mosquitoes where horrendous!   So i took a few images and jumped back into the car!!!   another time!

Spent an interesting day:  had a bus load of folks who are the spouses of a large gathering of blacksmiths at a conference here in Baddeck.   They stayed about an hour and i had to talk to them about making pottery! 

Tomorrow another group of them will arrive for the same treatment!

Mimi came up to visit for the day.....we had a very engaging time talking art, books and life in general!   Very rich...but once again i'm toast.
