on the way home

I left Moab early today to beat the holiday traffic and predicted rain. The sunrise was spectacular, and the roads were fairly empty. The temps remained cool under cloudy skies, and most folks must have worked a half day because traffic was light until about noon.
But I did not dawdle, i.e. stop to take pictures, because I felt it might rain at any minute. But I'm a sucker for aspen trees, so I did stop for this shot going up Independence Pass from Aspen to Buena Vista, CO.
Then 45 minutes away from home the heavens let loose and I got soaked through to my skin! So glad I didn't dawdle and was soon home.
