Fairfield, Govan
Several weeks ago I did some Glasgow walks which were full of interest but which were done in pretty poor weather. I repeated one of those today , walking down the Kelvin to the Riverside Museum.
As an addition I took the subway to Govan and made two "discoveries". Firstly I visited the Old Parish Church with its quite amazing display of carved stones and then the former Fairfield Shipbuilding headquarters which has a very impressive museum describing the history of shipbuilding on the Clyde. Both of these are real hidden gems, well worth a visit. A final bonus was to cross the river back to the Riverside museum by the Govan Ferry which only started its summer operations today.
