An Anzac Soldier

This is my grand-uncle, Peter.   He emigrated to Australia in 1910.   His Scots sweetheart joined him in 1914 and they were married.   He registered for military service in 1915, and he embarked back to Europe on 11 May 1917 on the HMAT Shropshire.    He was a Sapper - in later years a telephone linesman.   (You can see the connection - pun unintended)
