Saved by a Salvia

Well that was quite a thunderstorm last night, sheet lightning galore followed by enormous cracks of thunder and it seemed to go on forever, drifting off and then coming back for an encore.  The rain poured over the guttering and our metal watering can was playing a merry old tune.  I fully expected the plants underneath the guttering to have been flattened, but they all survived.  Amazingly the patio was bone dry this morning, but the water butt is full, and it is hot, hot hot again.

I bought a tall Salvia last weekend and it is still sitting in its pot.  I love the plaited look of the new bud, so that is what you have today.
