La dolce vita il Lunedi
Woke up on Monday to discover everything was closed for a public holiday. It didn't stop us tourists from wandering the streets though, and some of the less shy ones even posing and soaking their feet in the Fontana della Barcaccia in the Piazza di Spagna. The worrying part was other people filling up their water bottles from the same fountain.
Moving on we headed off in search of the Fontana Di Trevi with a stop for lunch on the way in the Piazza della Rotonda in the shade of the Pantheon. It too was closed, but it didn't stop a queue of tourists taking turns to peer through the crack between the two massive doors in an attempt to see what was inside. Perhaps coming back on Tuesday wasn't an option for them. We eventually made it to the Trevi but any attempt to emulate Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni would be doomed to failure for lots of reasons but mostly because the fountain was being entirely renovated and was encased in scaffolding.
I'm sure it will look marvellous once it's finished. Never mind, there is always tomorrow's adventures.
