The Gowf
As we proceeded towards the allotment, about to put in a good long shift of weeding, we came across this fine sight on Leith Links.
Every so often, the oldest recorded golf course in the world (aye, shut up, Musselburgh!) is revived for a weekend. Those familiar with the game might notice the strange, antique look of the equipment; it is played with hickory-shafted clubs. I think you're only allowed one wood, one iron and a putter.
I think it is also the site of the first game where we know the result... King Charles I beat his brother the Duke of York.
