Life in a Northern Town

i-eye Day 30:- Independence Day

It's 4pm on the 4th of July; we were up at 5am, which was 17 hours ago and I seem to have eaten 7 or 8 meals since then and I have no idea what planet I'm on let alone which time zone we are in.

Anyway, so it's Independence Day, the Grateful Dead are in town, both baseball teams are at home and there's a huge firework display scheduled ( I was going to wait and Blip that but I suspect we won't make it that late!). Plus it's around 80 degrees and a perfect day. So there a couple of people in Chicago apart from us. We picked a good day to travel (although not a good airline - crappy plane and surly cabin crew), we cleared immigration in world record time (very efficient) and the freeway from the airport was deserted.

We have walked and swum and eaten already; we can see Navy Pier from our hotel rooms so we will see the fireworks if we're still awake and we will be up early tomorrow to take advantage of everybody else lying in with hangovers.

I am going to stick to the iPhone Blips, even though I might be tempted to stray. Here's a pano including David also panorama-ing, taken from the Marina looking back downtown.

My Kinda town, Chicago is.
