Hot and Bovvered

Thank goodness for air-conditioning in the car when you're stuck in traffic on the A12 and it's sweltering outside!  I was so hot and bothered when I arrived at Mum's that I was literally speechless for a while.  A trip to Sainsbury's all but wiped us both out.

After dinner I watered the garden and had a look around for some photographic inspiration.  Lots of buzzing going on, with several different types of hoverfly exploring the shrubs and plants.  I've no idea at all what the winged creature in my extra photo is though, as it doesn't look like a hoverfly to me - any suggestions?
