Bennachie Again

The colonists lived on the lower slopes of the hills around Bennachie in the early 1800's when good farming land elsewhere was scarce. According to the information in the Bennachie centre and on the leaflet, over 60 people lived and worked on the hill, burning heather, creating fields and building dykes to keep pigs, cattle and sheep and make a living from the land's natural resources.

The remnants of some of their homes are still visible today and make a great place for imaginative play!
