2nd Sat Strollers

in the sun's clear rays

Spent a productive few hours at our Allotment earlier this afternoon ...

... with all the recent sunshine & rain, everything is growing rally fast - and, as you can see from this snap, the flower-beds are an absolute riot of colour!

Pleased to report that all the vegetable and fruit crops, are also coming on well, and we've now got our first batch of allotment-strawberry jam bottled-up :-)

Here's an appropriate poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe about Summer, plants and love:

In Summer

How plain and height
With dewdrops are bright!
How pearls have crown'd
The plants all around!
How sighs the breeze
Thro' thicket and trees!
How loudly in the sun's clear rays
The sweet birds carol forth their lays!

But, ah! above,
Where saw I my love,
Within her room,
Small, mantled in gloom,
Enclosed around,
Where sunlight was drown'd,
How little there was earth to me,
With all its beauteous majesty!
