Madonna del Rosario procession, Manchester

Members of Manchester’s Italian community have been taking part in the Madonna del Rosario procession every year since 1890. The marchers set off from Little Italy –the district of Ancoats famous for its influx of Italian immigrants in the late 1800– towards Albert Square, before returning along the same route. The Madonna del Rosario procession is one of the oldest surviving processions in the UK and is a fantastic celebration of Italian culture in Manchester.
