Life in a Northern Town

i-eye Day 31:- Obvious of Chicago......

I think I may be the first tourist who ever thought of taking this shot....

Oh well, maybe not, but there's a reason it's the obvious shot to take.

Cloudscape at 7.30am, while the rest of the city was still asleep (it's not New York). After that I ate eggs benedict made with maple soaked pulled pork. My arteries sent up a white flag and surrendered. I replaced the potatoes that were supposed to accompany it with fruit so I think that cancels out the calories. Plus I have yet to consume any alcohol since I've been in the country so it's all good.

I was the only one of the family who made it to see the fireworks. They were pretty standard ( very red, white and blue ( well duh)) but the atmosphere was good, and at least then I slept through until 6am. We did the architecture boat trip as recommended by Ellisroger, and it was fabulous. The guide was splendid, we now are experts on the history and architecture of the city and had a relaxing 90 minutes cruise along the river at the same time. We've also been to Navy Pier and done a bit of window shopping on The Magnificent Mile. Now debating whether to go kayaking (not me, I'll be watching from the shore) or cycling. We also need to ride the El at some point (although I have never seen such an uninviting public transport system) and ascend the Willis Tower.

It's bloomin' hot though. 30 degrees and hotter tomorrow.

I will get around to putting some pics on Flickr at some point. Hopefully. Meanwhile a firework picture, not taken on the phone I must confess.
