Avocets

Saturday
Another warm sunny day. More bird watching this morning, this time with Janet and John at Burton Mere Wetlands, an RSPB site on the Dee estuary on the Wirral peninsula. Yesterday, Judy had been disappointed that we didn't see any avocets, but today we were fortunate enough to see quite a few. My photograph is heavily cropped, but I was still quite pleased how well it came out. I was particularly pleased, since this was the first time I had seen an avocet, the emblem of the RSPB. When we were finished there, we went for a pub lunch, which we ate outside in the glorious sunshine. Then it was on to Thurstaston Common for some more walking. In the evening we went out to eat with Roger's Mum and Dad.
