A yellow morning

In the early morning, it was bright sunshine as forecasted. But after a while it became overcast. Not by clouds but by smoke. Big wildfires on the mainland had caused an enormous amount of smoke, which had drifted out over the ocean and our little island. It had an unpleasant smell, and it was ash and soot in the air. And the light and the sky was yellow.

The sparrow didn't care, but was  happily singing in the smoke.
