These folks have the right idea. My car thermometer read 97F (36C) on the way home from our walk today.

Now Maddy the dog is sprawled, sleeping with her legs splayed to keep as cool as possible even with the air-conditioning. Severe thunderstorms with strong straight-line winds, heavy rain, and hail are on the way, and will be blessedly followed by cooler and less humid days next week.
