Nest

Thanks to Aunts Spike and Sponge looking after our chicks back at home, Jamie and I have flown the nest to celebrate our wedding anniversary in a beautiful part of Somerset.

There are enormous double daybeds laid out on the lawn overlooking the lake so we lolled about in late afternoon sun. When we both worked at the BBC our department would sometimes decamp to a hotel like this for an Awayday; a couple of days planning business and strategy, and nights playing pool and corridor creeping. (This was back when the BBC was affectionately held in the hearts and minds of the public. It feels a long way away from that position of power and priviledge now.)

Jamie and I held our own Awayday; talking shop. Interspersed with swimming, a cream tea and a visit to the tiny church in the grounds where swallows swooped above our heads getting on with the serious business of life.
